Olympic Games

At the most important event in badminton she managed to achieve two medals already. A Silver medal in Rio 2016, when she lost the final to Carolina Marin. And a Bronze medal in Tokyo 2020, where she lost the semi final to Tai Tzu Ying. At her age it seems possible that she will still be able to go for another medal in Paris 2024. Maybe she can complete her medal set and add the Golden One. That would be spectacular.

BWF World Championships

In the second hightes tournament category she has been even mire successful. After two bronze and two silver medals (her finals loss against Nozomi Okuhara 2017 in Glasgow was one of the greatest womens singles matches of all times) Sindhu finally made it to the top of the podium in Basel 2019, when she beat Okuhara convincingly in the final.

BWF World Tour

A victory at the 2018 BWF World Tour Finals and three more Superseries Titles and several runner-ups round up her set of achievements.

Trademarks / Playing Style

Despite being quite tall with 1,79m, she moves very well around the court and I would actually not describe her attacking game as her best ability.

Of course she can score points with her hard and steep smashes. But to me its her great court coverage and defense, that make her stand out. With that long reach its tough to get the shuttle on the floor.

Additionally she is known for her incredible fighting spirit. She never gives up on any point, regardless of the score. Overall she is just a fantastic player.
